FINDING A NEW CAREER WITH LINKEDIN

With the economy plummeting to new lows it is becoming more and more difficult to find a new job these days. Those who have been handed over a pink slip are having a hard time to find an employment. The employer are also skeptical about hiring new employee as they are not sure how thee economy will turn up. In these trying time even if the employer decide to hire someone it is after verifying fully if the employee is good enough for the post since there are so many to choose from.

Having a LinkedIn account would not guarantee a job but it would increase your chances of finding a new job. If you were not satisfied with the way your career has taken shape then maybe this is the right time to have a new perspective. Finding a new career is never easy but then this should not deter you from trying. The first and the foremost thing would be to find a career of your choice. This should be arrived after much thought and consideration. Once when you are clear with the choice of career the hard part is over.

You can also try and see who else is there in LinkedIn? Since its user base is among the highest, chances are you will find almost everyone you knew. Getting your contact list in place is the first thing to do. You can inform your acquaintances about your decision to switch to a new career. There might be someone in the connections of your friend who might help you in your endeavor. This may sound a little desperate but then there is nothing wrong if you are doing it for business reasons. Try and stay clear of the LinkedIn rules and regulations though.

This is not all. You can actually visit those who are in a position to help you. Though you may not find a job right away but you might be pointed in the right direction and from there at least the efforts would not go in vain. Those interested in you might refer to your former employer to verify your credential. This is generally a big stepping stone in realizing your dream.

Apart from this you can join the group pertaining to your new career. The benefits? Firstly you will get to know more people related to the chosen field. Secondly if you continue to learn and grow then chances of an opportunity coming your way is much greater than if you sit idle and do nothing.

Though none of this would actually help you get successful because in the end it is all up to you but LinkedIn can help open the door of opportunities for you. The onus of benefitting from it lies entirely on you. So while you are working on the online profile continue to work on your skills too.
